We will only book audition time slots during this 3 week period. Any submissions outside this window will be added to the general email list but will need to request an audition time during the submission period.

GENERAL AUDITION INFORMATION

– Auditions will be held at The Henegar Center; 625 E New Haven Ave, Melbourne FL 32901.

– The Henegar is an equal opportunity theatre and we encourage performers of all ethnicities to audition.  Please do not disqualify yourself on the basis of type, race, or physicality.

– Every volunteer actor, 16 & Up, will receive a travel stipend at the end of each MainStage show’s run.

– The Henegar Center, when needed, will offer Equity guest contracts to members of the union and professional Actors.

– Follow us on Facebook!  Please check the individual audition event posted in Facebook (www.facebook.com/HenegarCenter) in the weeks leading up to the audition.

– For a faster and more convenient experience, you may choose to book a guaranteed audition appointment time. To secure a time slot for either day please email auditions@henegar.org

– Doors will open 30 minutes prior to the start of auditions! 

– Music from the show, scenes, or choreography will be taught the night of auditions. Vocal sides will be sent in advance of the audition date, and after we’ve confirmed your appointment. 

– Actors may be asked to attend a callback after their audition.

– Some ensemble roles may be required to understudy lead roles

Audition Info:

Adult and Young Adult Vocalists/Actors/Dancers
(Two child performers needed for Little Don & Cosmo, tap or dancing required) 
AUDITION DATES:
Sunday, Nov 2nd: 6pm-10pm

Monday, Nov 3rd: 5pm-10pm


Rehearsal Dates: Nov 16th – Jan 15th, with a 3-week break in rehearsal roughly Dec 11th-28th
(Rehearsals are generally Sun-Thur, 6:30pm-10:30pm)
Mandatory Tech Week: Jan 11th – Jan 15th
Performances run for 4 Weekends: Jan 16th – Feb 8th
Includes Fri 8pm, Sat 2pm & 8pm, & Sun 2pm 

(*May add additional performances including Thursday evenings at a later date)

 


For a faster and more convenient experience, you are strongly encouraged to book a guaranteed audition appointment time.  Anyone auditioning without a scheduled appointment will be seen in the next available time slot as they arrive. *Note* Walk-ups may experience a much longer wait time.
To secure a time slot for your in person audition, please email auditions@henegar.org with your SATB vocal part, preferred date & time, and performer headshot.  Please be patient, it make take a few days to respond due to high volume request

In person auditions will have first consideration for casting, however performers traveling further than 90 miles from The Henegar may submit a virtual audition. Submissions should include headshot, theatre resume and a vocal selection from the production, and a short dance reel (if applicable).  Email your submission to auditions@henegar.org by Saturday, Nov 1st. Please include if there are any specific roles you’d like to be considered for, if you would be willing to accept any other role, if you have any conflicts throughout the run, and if you would require housing if available.

LIST OF CHARACTERS

Don Lockwood – Vocal Range – (Ab4-G2)

A suave Hollywood actor and dancer. Cosmo’s best friend and Lina’s regular co-star.

(Able to play 35 to 45)

 

Kathy Selden –  Vocal Range – (F5-G3)

An earnest, talented actress with wit and charm. She falls in love with Don and performs as Lina’s speaking and singing voice.

(Able to play 25-30)

 

Cosmo Brown – Vocal Range -(Ab4 – C3)

A wacky and playful on-set pianist for silent films. Don’s best friend and former dance partner.

(Able to play 35 to 45)

 

Lina Lamont – Vocal Range – (Eb5-C4)

A slow-witted silent film diva with a big personality and a harshly unpleasant voice. She is Don’s regular co-star.

(Able to play 30 – 35)

 

Production Solo Singer (Beautiful Girls) –  Vocal Range – (Ab4-Db3)

 The lead tenor in Monumental Pictures’ first movie musical.

(Able to play 25 – 40)

Za Za Adult Female- Exotic silent film star
