*SPECIAL NOTE– Listed are the dates and general rehearsal/show dates for pre-planning purposes. We will post specific detailed information for each title roughly 3 weeks prior to each audition. We will only book audition time slots during this 3 week period. Any submissions outside this window will be added to the general email list but will need to request an audition time during the submission period.

GENERAL AUDITION INFORMATION

– Auditions will be held at The Henegar Center; 625 E New Haven Ave, Melbourne FL 32901.

– The Henegar is an equal opportunity theatre and we encourage performers of all ethnicities to audition.  Please do not disqualify yourself on the basis of type, race, or physicality.

– Every volunteer actor, 18 & Up, will receive a travel stipend at the end of each MainStage show’s run. 

– The Henegar Center, when needed, will offer Equity guest contracts to members of the union and professional Actors.

– Follow us on Facebook and Instagram!  Please check the individual audition event posted in Facebook (www.facebook.com/HenegarCenter) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/henegarcenter) in the weeks leading up to the audition.

– For a faster and more convenient experience, you may choose to book a guaranteed audition appointment time. To secure a time slot for either day please email auditions@henegar.org

– Doors will open 30 minutes prior to the start of auditions! 

– Music from the show, scenes, or choreography will be taught the night of auditions. Vocal sides will be sent in advance of the audition date, and after we’ve confirmed your appointment. 

– Actors may be asked to attend a callback after their audition.

– Some ensemble roles may be required to understudy lead roles

Rehearsals are generally Sunday through Thursday 6:30pm-10:30pm

*NOTE* If you have any conflicts for Tech week or any Show Performances, you will not be able to be cast.

Performance Dates: October 2nd – October 25th (Friday- 8:00pm show, Saturday- 2:00pm & 8:00pm shows, Sunday- 2:00pm show) *NOTE* We may add additional performances including Thursday evenings at a later date.

For a faster and more convenient experience, you are strongly encouraged to book a guaranteed audition appointment. Anyone auditioning without a scheduled appointment will be seen in the next available time slot. *NOTE* Walk-ups may experience a much longer wait time. To secure a time slot for your audition, please email auditions@henegar.org with your SATB vocal part, preferred date and time, and performer headshot.

In person auditions will have first consideration of casting; however, performers traveling further than 90 miles from The Henegar may submit a virtual audition. If you would like to submit a virtual audition please submit a Headshot, Theatre Resume, a Vocal Selection from the show, and Dance Reel (if applicable to the roles you are auditioning for) by Saturday, August 1st. Please include if there are any specific roles you’d like to be considered for, if you would be willing to accept any other role, if you have any conflicts throughout the run, and if you would require housing if available. 

Every eligible actor 18 and up will receive a paid travel stipend at the end of the show’s run. The Henegar Center, when needed, will offer equity guest contracts to members of the union and contracts for professional actors. The Henegar is an Equal Opportunity Theatre, and we encourage performers of all ethnicities to audition. Please do not disqualify yourself on the basis of type, race, or physicality.

Music from the show and choreography will be taught at the night of auditions. Some performers may be asked to attend callbacks on the same night of their audition. Vocal sides will be sent in advance of the audition date, and after we’ve confirmed your appointment.


CHARACTERS:

COUNT DRACULA: Mysterious, passionate, and seductive. The vampire leader who desires a change of scene in hopes of obtaining fresh blood. Slight Eastern European accent. Comfortable with heights and theatrical fly systems. (Gender: Male, Age: Able to Portray age 30 to 50, Vocal range: G#2-Ab4)

JONATHAN HARKER: The straightforward Englishman devoted to Mina. He is a suave lawyer who travels to Dracula’s estate (Gender: Male, Able to portray age: 25 to 35, Vocal range: Bb2-A4)

MINA MURRAY: Strong, intelligent, and capable of great passion, she is the fiance of Jonathan. (Gender: Female, Able to portray age: 25 to 35, Vocal range A3-F4)

LUCY WESTENRA: The typical slightly naive, beautiful ingenue who is a loyal friend to Lucy. She is engaged to Arthur. (Gender: Female, Able to portray age: 25 to 35 Vocal range: A3-G5)

PROFESSOR VAN HELSING: Experienced in the strange and obscure, he is charismatic and intellectual yet has strong emotions and is a born leader. (Gender: Male, Able to portray age: 40 to 60, Vocal range: Bb2-G4)

RENFIELD: Obsessed and insane, but with a conscience underneath. He is Dracula’s faithful servant with a meek demeanor. (Gender: Male, Able to portray Age: 20 to 40, Vocal range: D3-C#5)

  1. JACK SEWARD: A logical and practical director of the local insane asylum. He becomes a potential suitor of Lucy’s later in the story. (Gender: Male, Able to portray age: 25 to 35, Vocal range: C3-F#4)

QUINCEY MORRIS: A simple, good-natured Texan who is always up for adventure. He competes for Lucy’s affections. (Gender: Male, Able to portray age: 35 to 45, Vocal range: Bb2-F#4)

ARTHUR HOLMWOOD: An average, quiet homebody who will fight when pushed. He becomes engaged to his childhood love, Lucy. (Gender: Male, Able to portray age: 30 to 45, Vocal range: C3-F#4)

VAMPIRE GIRLS: 4 Female Dancer/singers with athletic dance and movement capabilities. Experience in bungee aerobics, aerial work, fly a plus. Comfortable with heights and theatrical fly.

STRONG MALE & FEMALE ENSEMBLE:

Strong confident vocalists to create an epic and gothic sound. Dance/movement unnecessary. Comfortable with dramatic line delivery and playing multiple supporting named characters.

The Henegar is looking for DANCER ONLY performers for our upcoming Halloween and Holiday productions of VILLAINOUS and HENEGAR’S HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR.

Seeking dancers with athleticism, high energy, and comfortable with a variety of styles such as ballet, jazz, musical theatre, contemporary, hip hop, and ballroom. (All roles are dancer only and a vocal audition is not necessary) Even if you have performed in a previous version of these shows, we ask all interested dancers to attend for consideration.

MERRY & BRIGHT, OUR HENEGAR HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR DANCE CALL: 7:00pm 
Everyone will learn a combination with the choreographer, followed by their audition performance. 
Merry & Bright general rehearsal period NOV 22nd- DEC 16th 
Performances one weekend only Thursday- Sunday DEC 17th- 20th

VILLAINOUS DIVAS, OUR HALLOWEEN GOTHIC SPECTACLE DANCE CALL: 8:30pm
Everyone will learn a combination with the choreographer, followed by their audition performance.
Villainous general rehearsal period OCT 4th-28th 
Performances one weekend only Thursday- Sunday OCT 29th-NOV 1st 
 
Audition for one or both shows on the same night. Anyone wanting to be considered for both productions will need to complete both dance calls.This audition will run differently than our traditional main stage auditions. Each interested candidate will need to email their interest and resume/headshot to AUDITIONS@HENEGAR.ORG to secure a time slot on our call sheet for the night.
*Note- if cast, a full rehearsal schedule will be presented at the time of casting. Traditionally we only rehearse Sun-Thur in the evenings between 6:30-10:30. Dancers will have a separate, more condensed rehearsal period from the rest of the cast. Please make all conflicts known at the time of auditioning. Since the performances are for one weekend only special events, we will not have swings for these events and can not accommodate conflicts on show dates.
