GENERAL AUDITION INFORMATION
– Auditions will be held at The Henegar Center; 625 E New Haven Ave, Melbourne FL 32901.
– The Henegar is an equal opportunity theatre and we encourage performers of all ethnicities to audition. Please do not disqualify yourself on the basis of type, race, or physicality.
– Every volunteer actor, 16 & Up, will receive a travel stipend at the end of each MainStage show’s run.
– The Henegar Center, when needed, will offer Equity guest contracts to members of the union and professional Actors.

– For a faster and more convenient experience, you may choose to book a guaranteed audition appointment time. To secure a time slot for either day please email auditions@henegar.org.
– Doors will open 30 minutes prior to the start of auditions!
– Music from the show, scenes, or choreography will be taught the night of auditions. Vocal sides will be sent in advance of the audition date, and after we’ve confirmed your appointment.
– Actors may be asked to attend a callback after their audition.
– Some ensemble roles may be required to understudy lead roles

Rehearsals are generally Sunday through Thursday evenings 6:30pm-10:30pm

Performance Dates: May 8th – May 31st (Friday- 8:00pm show, Saturday- 2:00pm & 8:00pm shows, Sunday- 2:00pm show) *NOTE* We may add additional performances including Thursday evenings at a later date.

For a faster and more convenient experience, you are strongly encouraged to book a guaranteed audition appointment. Anyone auditioning without a scheduled appointment will be seen in the next available time slot. *NOTE* Walk-ups may experience a much longer wait time.
To secure a time slot for your audition, please email auditions@henegar.org with your SATB vocal part, preferred date and time, and performer headshot.
In person auditions will have first consideration of casting; however, performers traveling further than 90 miles from The Henegar may submit a virtual audition. If you would like to submit a virtual audition please submit a Headshot, Theatre Resume, a Vocal Selection from the show, and Dance Reel (if applicable) by Saturday, March 7th. Please include if there are any specific roles you’d like to be considered for, if you would be willing to accept any other role, if you have any conflicts throughout the run, and if you would require housing if available.

Shrek – Vocal Range – (G#4 -A2)
Our story’s title character. A big, green, terrifying ogre who lives alone on a swamp. He embarks on a journey to rid his land of fairytale creatures and, along the way, falls in love with Fiona. Begins as a grumpy hermit, but reveals his layers and eventually becomes the hero. Seeking performer who can speak with a Scottish accent. Must be comfortable performing in heavy prosthetic makeup while dancing and potentially arriving for an earlier call time during the performance run to sit through a longer, involved make-up process. (Able to play 25 to 45)
Princess Fiona – Vocal Range – (G6-F3)
The beautiful princess of Far Far Away, she transforms into an ogre every night when the sun sets. Rescued by Shrek and eventually falls in love with him. Quirky, blunt, and multitalented, she is not an ordinary princess. Seeking performer with tap experience. (Able to play 20 – 30)
Donkey – Vocal Range – (C3-B4)
A talking donkey who joins Shrek on the run from Farquaad’s guards. Quite the chatterbox, he is not deterred by Shrek’s looks and practically forces himself into his good graces. Easily frightened and pushy, but also optimistic with heart. Seeking a male or female BIPOC (Able to play 20 to 35)
Dragon – Vocal Range – (F3-Eb5)
A dragon that has been charged with guarding Princess Fiona in her isolated castle. She eventually falls in love with Donkey and attempts to keep him there forever. Imposing and flirtatious, but tired of her job as the glorified baby-sitter. May double as other roles. (Able to play 25-45)
Gingy – Vocal Range – (B3-C#3)
A gingerbread man initially kidnapped by Lord Farquaad. His wit and resolution help him both avoid trouble and inspire the rest of the fairytale creatures. Puppet. Doubles as other roles.(Able to play 20 – 40)
Pinocchio – Vocal Range – (E3-F#4)
The leader of the fairytale creatures. He is an animated puppet whose nose grows every time he lies. Plenty of sass with a penchant for lying. May double as other roles. (Able to play 20 – 40)
Wolf – Vocal Range – (E3-F#4)
Famous adversary of Little Red Riding Hood. Doubles as other roles. (Able to play 20-40)
