*SPECIAL NOTE– Listed are the dates and general rehearsal/show dates for pre-planning purposes. We will post specific detailed information for each title roughly 3 weeks prior to each audition. We will only book audition time slots during this 3 week period. Any submissions outside this window will be added to the general email list but will need to request an audition time during the submission period.

We will drop show specifics 3 weeks prior to each audition.

GENERAL AUDITION INFORMATION

– Auditions will be held at The Henegar Center; 625 E New Haven Ave, Melbourne FL 32901.

– The Henegar is an equal opportunity theatre and we encourage performers of all ethnicities to audition.  Please do not disqualify yourself on the basis of type, race, or physicality.

– Every volunteer actor, 18 & Up, will receive a travel stipend at the end of each MainStage show’s run. 

– The Henegar Center, when needed, will offer Equity guest contracts to members of the union and professional Actors.

– Follow us on Facebook and Instagram!  Please check the individual audition event posted in Facebook (www.facebook.com/HenegarCenter) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/henegarcenter) in the weeks leading up to the audition.

– For a faster and more convenient experience, you may choose to book a guaranteed audition appointment time. To secure a time slot for either day please email auditions@henegar.org

– Doors will open 30 minutes prior to the start of auditions! 

– Music from the show, scenes, or choreography will be taught the night of auditions. Vocal sides will be sent in advance of the audition date, and after we’ve confirmed your appointment. 

– Actors may be asked to attend a callback after their audition.

– Some ensemble roles may be required to understudy lead roles

Rehearsals are generally Sunday through Thursday 6:30pm-10:30pm

(Mandatory Tech Week: August 9th – August 13th)

*NOTE* If you have any conflicts for Tech week or any Show Performances, you will not be able to be cast.

Performance Dates: August 14th – September 6th (Friday- 8:00pm show, Saturday- 2:00pm & 8:00pm shows, Sunday- 2:00pm show) *NOTE* We may add additional performances including Thursday evenings at a later date.

For a faster and more convenient experience, you are strongly encouraged to book a guaranteed audition appointment. Anyone auditioning without a scheduled appointment will be seen in the next available time slot. *NOTE* Walk-ups may experience a much longer wait time. To secure a time slot for your audition, please email auditions@henegar.org with your SATB vocal part, preferred date and time, and performer headshot.

In person auditions will have first consideration of casting; however, performers traveling further than 90 miles from The Henegar may submit a virtual audition. If you would like to submit a virtual audition please submit a Headshot, Theatre Resume, a Vocal Selection from the show, and Dance Reel (if applicable to the roles you are auditioning for) by Saturday, June 13th. Please include if there are any specific roles you’d like to be considered for, if you would be willing to accept any other role, if you have any conflicts throughout the run, and if you would require housing if available. 

Every eligible actor 18 and up will receive a paid travel stipend at the end of the show’s run. CHARACTERS:

DANNY ZUKO: Male, Able to portray High School Teen, Must be 18+ (Range: tenor, D4–B5)

The leader of the T-Birds/Burger Palace Boys; good-looking, strong and confident, with an air of easy-going charm.

SANDY DUMBROWSKI: Female, Able to portray High School Teen, Must be 18+  (Range: Soprano, A3–F#5) New girl in town; sweet, wholesome, naive, cute, and innocent.

BETTY RIZZO: Female, Able to portray High School Teen, Must be 18+  (Range:Alto A3–C5) Leader of the Pink Ladies; tough, sarcastic, and outspoken but vulnerable.

FRENCHY: Female, Able to portray High School Teen, Must be 18+ (Range: Alto, A3–D5) A dreamer; good-natured but not too smart, she is heavily made up, fussy about her appearance, particularly her hair. She can’t wait to finish high school so she can be a beautician.

MARTY: Female, Able to portray High School Teen, Must be 18+  (Range Alto, C4–C5) The ‘beauty’ of the Pink Ladies; pretty and looks older than the other girls, but betrays her real age when she opens her mouth. She tries to act sophisticated.

JAN: Female, Able to portray High School Teen, Must be 18+ (Range: Alto, A3-C5) Funny, loud, compulsive eater, and awkward member of the Pink Ladies. Loud and pushy with the girls, but shy with boys.

DOODY: Male, Able to portray High School Teen, Must be 18+ (Range: Tenor, D4-A5) The youngest of the T-Bird/Burger Palace Boys; small, boyish, and open, with a disarming smile and a hero-worshipping attitude towards the other guys. He also plays the guitar.

KENICKIE: Male, Able to portray High School Teen, Must be 18+ (Range: Tenor, C4–F5) The second in command of the T-Bird/Burger Palace Boys; tough-looking, tattooed, surly, and avoids any show of softness. He has an offbeat sense of humor.

SONNY LATIERRI: Male, Able to portray High School Teen, Must be 18+ (Range: baritone, G3–A5) A member of the T-Bird/Burger Palace Boys; funny Italian-American, he is a braggart and wheeler-dealer who thinks he’s a real lady-killer

ROGER: Male, Able to portray High School Teen, Must be 18+ (Range: Tenor, D4-A5) T-Bird/Burger Palace Boys. The anything-for-a-laugh stocky type of boy; a clown who enjoys winding people up, he is full of mischief and is always dreaming up half-baked schemes and ideas.

CHA-CHA, aka CHARLENE, DIGREGORIO: Female, Able to portray High School Teen, Must be 16+ (Range: Alto, C4–C5) The best dancer at St. Bernadette’s; a loud mouth, she wins the dancing competition with Danny.

EUGENE FLORCZYK: Male, Able to portray High School Teen, Must be 16+ (Range: Tenor, A3–E5) The class valedictorian; physically awkward, with weak eyes and a high-pitched voice. He’s a typical ‘apple-polisher’ – both smug and pompous, but gullible.

MISS LYNCH: Adult Female, Age Flexible (Range: Ensemble/Part Flexible) A no-nonsense, serious, loud English teacher.

PATTY SIMCOX: Female, Able to portray High School Teen, Must be 16+ (Range: Alto, D4-A4) A typical cheerleader; attractive, athletic, sure-of-herself, but can be given to bursts of disconcerting enthusiasm. She’s a bit of a pain and unpopular with the Pink Ladies, and can twirl a baton.

TEEN ANGEL/RADIO VOICE/VINCE FONTAINE: Teen Angel: Black Adult Male, Age Flexible (Range: Tenor, E4–F5) Frenchy’s suave and slick guardian angel, who encourages her to stay in school. Vince: A typical ‘teen audience’ disc jockey; slick, egotistical and fast-talking. He is also a veteran ‘Greaser.’

DANCE ENSEMBLE: Must be 16+
